18.15hrs - Registration
18.30hrs - Welcome, News & Announcements (Mike Francis & Chris Brind)
18.45hrs – OSGi for Enterprises (Holger Hoffstätte & Robert Dunne)
20.00hrs - Meeting Close & Retire to the Pub
This talk will include a demonstration and will walk through the development and deployment of an OSGi based web application, using this to illustrate several OSGi technologies and best practices. The first part of the talk and demonstration will use locally published back end services. After that we’ll extend it to dynamically discover and use remotely hosted back end services that are exported using several different protocols.
The standards and technologies used in the talk will include:
An OSGi shell and command line - based on Apache Gogo and the pending standard for OSGi shells
Declarative Services - a lightweight dynamic dependency publication and injection framework for OSGi
Powerful OSGi dependency resolution, configuration and deployment - illustrating features of the pending OBR specification.
OSGi Remote Services and Remote Service Admin
Apache Sigil: A powerful OSGi build tool and eclipse plugin
Attendees who are new to OSGi will be able to see tools and practices that make OSGi easier to learn and to work with productively. Those who are already experienced with OSGi will be able to learn about some of the most interesting recent OSGi technologies and to see them in action.
